Read once and pass along.Helpful book for those thinking through the issues of small church pastorates I appreciate that the authors addressed the various settings of small towns Especially the concept of Rurban communities that are seeing growth as they transition from rural to being bedroom communities Churches in these settings will require being shepherded through a culture clash of rural and sub urban members The beginning of the book is a good heart check for pastors to encourage the Read once and pass along.Helpful book for those thinking through the issues of small church pastorates I appreciate that the authors addressed the various settings of small towns Especially the concept of Rurban communities that are seeing growth as they transition from rural to being bedroom communities Churches in these settings will require being shepherded through a culture clash of rural and sub urban members The beginning of the book is a good heart check for pastors to encourage them in the slow steady work of building relationships in small town communities The authors also remind us to not try and compete with larger churches adopting strategies on a smaller scale that will never work in the small town setting At times I felt the book had too much pragmatic approach to building a health church, finding a niche offering etc., rather than an emphasis on the ordinary means of grace and the simple faithfulness of true discipleship the leads to spiritually thriving communities of faith at any size One of the authors even consistently downplays the role of preaching in impacting the church over time over against life on life relationships His point about fellowship and creating time for developing relationships outside of the study are taken, but preaching from the Word of God is at the center of all truly healthy churches [[ Epub ]] ☞ No Little Places: The Untapped Potential of the Small-Town-Church ↡ No Little Places takes advantage of two small town church strengths that city churches dream of nurturing intimacy and involvement The authors help city pastors successfully cross the urban rural cultural barrier One of my favorites and one I return to when I need to refocus my preach in rural ministry It is a pistol book for anyone considering a rural pastorate These guys are both the real deal Like sitting down with two seasoned pastor s and hearing their successes and failures And a whole lot of helpful wisdom along the way.
